Counselling & Eating Therapy

Yvonne Green MBACP (Accred).

You may be struggling to cope with issues that are preventing you from living a full andcontented life and need some support. You may be feeling strong emotions such as anger, doubt, frustration, sadness, fear or guilt

I provide a space to talk and a listening ear in a confidential and safe setting.

I am a warm and empathic counsellor and am trained to provide either short or long term Counselling. I have always been a good listener and realise these skills are vital to be a good counsellor.

I like to build a trusting relationship and learn how other people see the world in order to more fully understand their issues. I am able to be congruent in a warm and calm way and this has helped clients to put their trust in me.

Helping to clarify and reflect on issues in a non-judgemental way enables clients to overcome blockages and express themselves in a beneficial manner. Finding words for feelings, some of which may have been stored up for many years, and saying them out loud in a safe and confidential setting can be a powerful and relieving experience.

Do you feel you have issues with food? Do you have an Eating disorder?

Do you maybe have disordered eating? Do you binge when you are depressed or upset?

Do you constantly diet only to put the weight back on ?

We can use food to emotionally comfort us. We may have certain beliefs and behaviour around food and this may be detrimental to our health, lifestyle, relationships and happiness.

You may have issues from the past that are affecting you and exploring them in a non judgemental way can help to explain why you may eat in a certain way.

There are no diets, calorie counting, weighing or target weights, just manageable and realistic goals.

I use practical techniques to restore blood sugar levels and overcome cravings, give information about metabolism, dieting and nutrition.

We explore new ways of thinking about food and improve self esteem and assertiveness.

We will look at ways to gently move forward and make small changes to restore a balanced and more contented way of eating.

I am registered and work closely with the National Centre for Eating Disorders and BEAT and have worked at The Food Doctor clinic in Harley Street.

Benefits of therapy

The therapies I use are finely tuned to suit each client. You may want short -term counselling to explore issues, establish patterns and look for a way to move forward in a positive and life changing way. Certain practical techniques may be suitable and simple exercises can be thought provoking.
You may wish to explore deeper issues from the past and look at behaviour and how it affects us now. Longer term counselling may be appropriate for this.

Learning new things about ourselves can be a powerful tool for change.

A Client says……..

“Yvonne has been a tower of strength at a time when I felt I had reached rock bottom. I can’t believe the changes in my attitude, my self esteem, my feelings of guilt and my negativity since my counselling sessions. When I first visited Yvonne I could not see a light at the end of my tunnel and I felt completely worthless. However there has been a complete change in the way I view myself and the world around me. I am incredibly happy, positive and confident. My life has changed dramatically and its all thanks to the support and caring I received from Yvonne. Thank you so much for seeing something in me that I had lost for many years. I would wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone going through a difficult time or suffering with self esteem issues no matter how large or small. You have changed my life and I am eternally grateful. X” – Anne W
