What is Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy is a gentle, safe way to rid the body of accumulated wastes that have become trapped in the colon and improve the functioning of the body’s elimination process. We use sterile disposable equipment to introduce warm, filtered water into the body. The treatment time will take about 30-45 minutes.
The idea of healing the body through helping the colon to expel poisonous matter is not new. It is based on the enema which has been in use in humanity for thousands of years. Records of enemas date back to ancient Egypt, Greek, Chinese and Indian civilisations.
Colon Hydrotherapy is more effective than an enema in that it can clean the whole of the colon rather than a small part of it. The colon is five foot long on average and much of its most toxic waste can reside in the cecum, the deepest part of the colon. The highly trained therapist introduces water at a gentle pressure to help soften and loosen old pockets of faecal matter. At the same time soothing, abdominal massage techniques help to stimulate the colon to push them out. The therapist stays with you throughout the treatment, monitoring what is released and always working with what you feel comfortable with.
Why should I have a Colon Hydrotherapy Treatment?
The so called ‘normal’ Western diet is highly acidic with a high emphasis on starches, meats and fats. This, together with a stressful life style (that is typical of modern living) creates a digestive system that begins to malfunction. We experience constipation, bloating and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).Over time, the intestines can literally ‘clog’ up with toxic matter.
What are the benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy?
When undertaken as part of a lifestyle change, with appropriate dietary recommendations advised by your therapist, Colon Hydrotherapy can have immense and lasting benefits.
What can I expect on my first visit?
A medical, dietary and lifestyle history is taken to help determine your requirements. Your highly trained therapist can then recommend a suitable dietary/lifestyle plan tailored for your specific needs. After changing into a disposable/sterile gown your therapist, using quality oils will massage your abdomen to ascertain its condition and help to relax any tension. Then a small, lubricated, sterile tube is inserted into the anus/rectum area. Slowly and gently, warm, filtered water is allowed to flow into the colon at a pressure you feel comfortable with. Throughout the treatment your therapist monitors the colon and matter released while giving gentle massage as necessary. At the end and/or during the session implants of herbs, positive bacteria or wheatgrass can be introduced as necessary. When the treatment has finished you can visit the en-suite facilities to see if any more waste needs to evacuate.
Your therapist will only recommend products she genuinely feels will help your digestive system to function at its best. For instance good bacteria which is so important for a healthy gut is sourced from ‘Bio-Care’ renowned for supplying high potency, human strain, live bacteria shown in scientific studies to be stable, effective in the gut and acid resistant. These can be administered at the end of the treatment as an implant or bought to be taken afterwards.
Sadly, the possible over use of antibiotics which kill good and bad bacteria indiscriminately can sometimes leave the long term health of our guts compromised and lead to problems such as IBS. This is one reason why the regular ingestion of positive bacteria is recommended.
